In 1992 it was revealed that the jury foreman, Luke Shaw, was a member of the Young Nationals and was identified with the “Friends of Joh” movement. The suspicion is the jury selection process (which is very different in Australia compared to, say, the US) was rorted to ensure that outcome. ---

Interesting that this dude is facing _six years_ for tax evasion (“Prosecutors alleged Funes dodged about $85,000 in taxes in 2014”) and 14 years for negotiating with street gangs. Also interesting that the country has no qualms about throwing this guy in actual jail if and when they can bring him home. I have never been to El Salvador and I don’t want to stereotype but I am not under the impression that the prisons there are particularly nice places, even for ex-Presidents. Hey Trump, take a moment to think about how _unfairly_ Walt Nauta is going to be treated when he’s in ADX Florence doing time for you. Maybe you should join him there to make sure he’s okay. Wouldn’t be fair otherwise. ---

Sounds to me like Trump is planning to lose in 2024. That’s an interesting strategy. After his next election loss there will be fresh, official (although certainly disputed by Trump) record that 80 million or so Americans reject him and all that he stands for. That’s his impartial jury pool? ---
