Peeps.

I go from store to store, buying cartons at a time, sometimes in disguise because I just hit that same store the day before. Usually I make Mr. Beckwall buy them for me - he is THIN and I’m not, and even though they are a _FAT FREE FOOD_, most cashiers make a big deal about me buying candy. “mmm, can see that you have a sweet tooth!” “yeah, bitch, shut up and give me the Peeps!”

Used to have to stock up at Easter (one year I came home from work to find a replica of the Great Wall of China made of bunny peeps, courtesy of a smitten Mr. Beckwall). Now, they come out on many different holidays. However, I am not beyond eating a year old carton if that is all that’s available.

Right now, I’m happy. Got me some snowmen Peeps. Is there such a thing as Peep pie?

This:[Sarica Garlic](http://www.sarica-foods.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID198&DEPARTMENT_ID=4)

People see whole garlic cloves in a dish on my table and they recoil in horror. I was leery too, but you cannot BELIEVE how amazingly good these are. Every single person I know who has tried them demands their own jar. I easily go through a jar a week, just eating them whole right out of the jar.

My mom’s baked ziti. She makes it with both sausage (the real stuff…not that crap they put on a Domino’s pizza) AND meatballs the size of your fist. Everything is made completely from scratch. I can eat three pounds of it in a sitting. Oh, God, I’m hungry…

Nuts. Lightly salted peanuts. Unsalted peanuts. Sunflower kernels. Macadamias. Smoked almonds. Mixed nuts. Pistachios. I’ll shovel the damned things into my gub like nut prohibition starts tomorrow. Then I look at the empty can the same way a cat looks at an empty tuna tin.

I really read this as: get my fix by 2:30 and get it off by 3. I thought, wow, he really likes those nachos!

Mine is:
Popcorn
Tic-tacs & spearmint Certs
Smarties in the roll
that’s about it, i think…although you wouldn’t believe the amount of seltzer water me and the boyfriend go through in a week. Hmm…think i need one now.

Hehehe, if I have Nachos, my wife is off the hook…so it’s actually \*better \* for me than your reading. This IS addiction we’re talking about here. And yes, club soda with lime wedge to wash 'em down.

Puffed Cheetoes. This is how bad I have it: I bite off the ends, then squish the middle against the roof of my mouth with my tongue. After about 10 cheetoes, this naturally leaves my mouth a bit raw.

But do I stop eating?
No!
Homer Simpson-like, I keep ouching and wincing my way through the whole bag.

Currently it’s the cinnamon glazed pecans at the convenient little stand just outside of where I work. Lucky for me, the guy running it takes a lot of breaks and isn’t always there when I walk by. Other times of the year, macadamia nuts, Almond Roca and beef jerky don’t stand a chance around me.

As far as the rest of the family, those mint M&Ms for Christmas are literally being inhaled in this house. I bought one bag thinking I’d be the only one who would like them and they’d last until Christmas looking pretty in my candy dish. Not. We are on bag three and it’s about gone. The thirteen year old comes out of his room grabs a hand full, goes back and plays video games until he runs out and then repeats the cycle. He’s mentioned a couple times that a bag in his Christmas stocking would be nice.

They sell RKT? I’ve only ever had the kind you make on the stove.

I also have a really great recipe that uses peanut butter and sugar rather than marshmallows, and I spread melted chocolate on top. We call them Scotcheroos, and if I ever had to gain weight for a movie roll, that would be my food of choice. With a glass of milk and a few squares of Scotcheroos… who needs a man?

a fondue of Digby’s savory toasted cheese and san francisco sourdough bread
Savoury Tosted or Melted Cheese

Digby p. 228/177

Cut pieces of quick, fat, rich, well tasted cheese, (as the best of Brye, Cheshire, &c. or sharp thick Cream-Cheese) into a dish of thick beaten melted Butter, that hath served for Sparages or the like, or pease, or other boiled Sallet, or ragout of meat, or gravy of Mutton: and, if you will, Chop some of the Asparages among it, or slices of Gambon of Bacon, or fresh-collops, or Onions, or Sibboulets, or Anchovis, and set all this to melt upon a Chafing-dish of Coals, and stir all well together, to Incorporate them; and when all is of an equal consistence, strew some gross White-Pepper on it, and eat it with tosts or crusts of White-bread. You may scorch it at the top with a hot Fire-Shovel.

1/2 lb butter
1/2 lb cream cheese
1/8 lb Brie or other strongly flavored cheese
1/4 t white pepper

Melt the butter. Cut up the cheese and stir it into the butter over low heat. You will probably want to use a whisk to blend the two together and keep the sauce from separating (which it is very much inclined to do). When you have a uniform, creamy sauce you are done. You may serve it over asparagus or other vegetables, or over toast; if you want to brown the top, put it under the broiling unit in your stove for a minute or so. Experiment with some of the variations suggested in the original.

\>\>\>for fonduing, thin out with kirsch or ale, or even a good white wine to your taste=)

asparagus and homemade hollandaise sauce
artichokes and homemade hollandaise sauce
broccoli and homemade hollandaise sauce

Hell, the veggies are just an excuse to make a batch of hollandaise sauce…something sensuous about whisking the butter and egg yolks together, and fresh cracked white pepper, just the right amount of cayenne and lemon [or blood orange if they have them, then it is a maltaise sauce…]

The store-bought Rice Krispy Treats aren’t nearly as good, or as fresh, as the ones my grandmother used to make, but they have been available at the grocery store for what- 15 years now?

A store near me recently expanded its british foods section and they now sell caramel McVities. I could eat a truckload of those things. Despite the saturated fat content.
