I’m not sure if this is the right place, but it should have a straightforward factual answer.
[This thread about LOTR](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=138905) inspired the question, having \*\*1743[b/] replies as of my starting this thread. That’s the largest number I recall seeing.

See where it says ‘replies’ at the top of the page? Set your view to show all threads since the beginning, and click on replies. It will sort it from highest to lowest number of replies.

The LOTR thread IS INDEED the longest thread ever, by a considerable margin. The next is an MPSIMS thread just over 1200.

Way back when, the AOL days, there was a thread titled “Who Was Mr Ruda Duda” which definitely went over 1500 posts (I remember it being remarked upon). Conceivably more than the LOTR thread. I bet TubaDiva would know.

At 50 posts per page, that would be somewhere between 1101 and 1150 posts, including the OP (so between 1100 and 1149 posts). So if the second place is an MPSIMS thread with over 1200, then Guy Stuff is at best third.
Note, however, that for a non-negligible portion of board history, the software would wonk out on any thread longer than 10 pages, so long threads would be closed by moderators, and a continuation thread opened. If we count those as a single thread (as they probably should be), then I think that the winner would be **Esprix** ’s “Ask the Gay Guy”.

I don’t think so. In fact I know that 24 gets a thread every week. A cool thread started by **KneadtoKnow** so’s it doesn’t get spoiled for him.
The thread is cool because **Knead** is a wonderful host who links all the season’s threads to the new one, plus he gives us VCR recording instructions-- you know, like if the show isn’t coming on or if there is a delay.
Buffy also seems to get a thread a show or close to it.
