# What shall I do with this 2 lb bag of frozen peas?

Ideas?
I have no idea what made the roommate come home with a 2 lb bag of frozen peas. Neither of us is a big pea eater. We don’t mind them. But don’t love them either.
When I was a kid, I hated peas, and pea soup to my mind, was a dish served straight from hell to make innocent children vomit their guts out.
As an adult, I don’t mind 'em. I can eat pea soup. A bowl of _fresh_ peas is actually kinda yummy. But for the most part, I’m sorta _meh_ about peas.
So what’s it going to be? Pea soup? Any favorite recipes?
Anything else I can do with them? Hit me with some pea recipes, fellow dopers.

I had oral surgery last week and have been alternating between a bag of peas and a bag of lima beans.
So, in response to the OP, either **Ethilrist’s** suggestion OR ammunition for a mini-catapult.

It’s really disturbing that I was going to make a, “get a vasectomy, use peas for healing time,” joke, and the equivalent was already made.

Defrost about a cup of them in a bowl of hot tap water. Meanwhile, dice a cup of ripe tomatoes and a half cup of green onions. Toss the drained, defrosted peas, the tomatoes and the onions together in a salad bowl with about 1/4 cup of wine vinegar and 1/2 cup olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. It’s a yummy, brightly colored salad and you can make it in about five minutes.

You all know the how to catch a polar bear one, right?
Go to North Pole.
Cut a hole thru the ice.
Place some of the peas around the opening.
When the polar bear comes to take a pea, kick him in the icehole.
That one was so bad, I was forced by Jesus himself to put it in a spoiler box.
I like split pea soup and ham sammiches.

Seriously, though, steam the peas and put a little butter on them. Steamed frozen peas are vastly superior to canned peas.

I add them to canned tomato soup, along with some dried basil and oregano.
Also, they make a cheap and tasty addition to a tuna or chicken noodle casserole. Try making a box of mac ‘n’ cheese, add a can of tuna (drained) and a couple handfuls of peas.
And yummy added to ramen.

Tut, tut. Frozen English peas are totally unlike the dried peas used for pea soup. Frozen peas are in the top ten of all vegetables. Cook them lightly and enjoy.
I will never understand people who don’t like peas.
