In [another thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=44935) about moon formation, I had brought up the current theory on how our moon was formed: A mars-sized planet smashed into the early Earth, and the moon was formed from the swirling detritus resulting from the impact. I had followed up by asking, does this Mars-sized planet have a name? **Phobos** answered that as far as he knew, it “has no name. Let’s name it!”
So…any suggestions?

Planet Steelypip. (Oh, please, why not Steelypip?) It’s from Stanislav Lem (poss. Stanislaus?) “The Cyberiad”.
Or, if that won’t do, maybe it’s the planet of the Clangers? (U.K. children’s T.V. thingy.) Admittedly, they seemed bit too nice, and going peacefully about their own business-y to go smashing into anyone, but “Clanger” does sort of sound as though there might have been a bit of repressed aggression going on there. They may have had very traumatic experiences in early Clangerhood that caused them later to express their desire for revenge in this way.
Or we could just call it Qwerty, and blame all of our human typing errors upon it. (I leik thatt idae to.)🙂

My first reaction to the question was the inevitable **Cecil** reference, but **Connor** beat me to it. So, how about **Galactus** , of Fantastic Four fame?
## I have a bunch of names buzzing around in my mind but I will not use them up on a single post as I usually do on these type of threads. I am aiming at reaching 750 posts by the end of the millennium, and as such post-padding measures must be enforced. 🙂
