What should I do with this car?

For me, the last couple of cars I sold, I traded in when buying the replacement. In one case, when my old Nissan Sentra was being towed in as part of this process, the dealer insisted that it be taken around back. It was too ugly to leave in front.

Thanks everybody for your contributions! Strangely, I think this might be the most popular thread I have ever started!

At present, I am leaning towards accepting Carvana’s offer. But there’s still some time to decide–I’d like to have a decision or ideally even a resolution by the end of the month.

I should have mentioned that I am in Brooklyn, NYC, and I already have the car that will be my new ride. I have no driveway, let alone a garage, and maintaining two cars parked on the streets of NYC is kind of a pain!

Ouch, until I read this I figured it would be best to list it for a couple of weeks at $4-5K and see what offers you get. Since storage is a pain, I’d advise hitting up Carvana’s competitors to see what they’ll offer. If it’s not more attractive than theirs, you can always walk and revert to Carvana.

Make sure you do this, if you sell to an individual. That should leave you in the clear, as New York’s lemon law doesn’t cover private sales.

If a dealer sells the car for more than $1500, they will have to provide a warranty against major issues for 30 days or 1000 miles.

That was my experience selling our vw Tiguan, the turbo was toast. I listed it fully disclosing all flaws and the quick responses floored me and one guy was very pushy insisting on my address as he was ready with a trailer. That kinda freaked me out. Got full ask from a different guy who intended on driving it back to his shop 50 Miles away. He had someone follow him and carried extra oil.

Sell the mini online.

I’ve sold a couple of cars on Craigslist and Facebook. It’s surprisingly easy. Do a test drive with them, and make the transaction inside a bank (cash only - or a cashier’s check from said bank).
