After three long years of skipping breakfast every morning, I’ve decided to go back to eating in the mornings to stave off junk-food cravings around 10:30 every morning.

So, Dopers, what do y’all suggest I eat in the mornings?

Chocolate Fudge Pop Tarts. Then you can have your breakfast AND your junk food in one meal. For variety, try Oreo-O’s cereal.

Mmmm… breakfast…

Frozen Eggo waffles are surprisingly good. Bagels, english muffins, or toast with jam and/or peanut butter. A fresh nectarine or some cherries on the side. Coffee with milk.

Yum!

If you believe some of the diet and nutrition gurus currently enjoying faddish popularity…they claim that a high carb or high-sugar breakfast will lead you to crave that junkfood mid-morning. I have found that’s true… for all this “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” wisdom, I feel hungrier after eating one. Unless I eat a breakfast that is low in carbs. BORING!

That said, I love breakfast cereal. I let myself buy some indulgent kid-oriented crap to have some mornings, as a reward for not hitting the snooze bar 80 times. MMMMMMmmmm. Eggo now makes something called “Toaster muffins” which are these bizarre little bread-shaped things which have a muffin-like texture. They grow on you.

It doesn’t have to be. John Waters’ favorite breakfast is a gallon of whole milk and a pound of bacon.

Anyway, I’ll be eating most of my breakfasts in ye olde college dining hall soon, so cereal it is! (mmmmmm… cocoa puffs…)

It’s been a while since I dredged this up, but … might I suggest a big bowl full of Hamburger Helper. Stroganoff flavor is ideal for breakfast because it comes with that stuff that mixed with an eyedropper of milk turns into something vaguely sour-creamish. Gotta have your dairy in the morning.

Cooked or uncooked?

That “white topping” stuff is awful no matter _what_ time of the day Hamburger Helper is eaten. Bleah. Give me good old-fashioned Lasagne flavored Hamburger Helper any day. Or better yet, one of those store-brand Lasagna Hamburger Helper clones that doesn’t have any added MSG.

Well I was thinking cooked of course, but with the proper funding I would be willing to try just pouring all the contents into a bread mixing bowl, pouring some 2% milk over the top and digging in. Let me know if the grant comes through.

On a Sunday morning after a rough night of partying, may I suggest warm beer and cold pizza? 😃

On a more serious note, the traditional breakfast of Eggs, bacon or sausage, and toast gives me the most energy throughout the day. Eating a good breakfast is a great way to boost your metabolism naturally. Too bad our rat-race society has gotten most of us out of the habit.

raisin toast with butter and/or cream cheese
peanut butter granola bars
nectarine or plum

I haven’t skipped my Earl Grey in the morning for many many years.

Ignore tracer–I think this sounds amazingly delicious! I have actually done this many times! I love this stuff! Especially with lots of extra sour cream and cracked black pepper. Mmmmm!

I usually keep a supply of hard-boiled eggs in the fridge, so I can have a quick breakfast by:

1. Popping 2 pieces of toast in toaster
2. While toast is toasting, crack & peel egg.
3. Pour a glass of juice
4. Put a little butter or peanut butter, or jam on toast.
5. Eat in about 3 minutes flat.

Keeps me going for a while on the weekdays, and slightly better than a bowl of cereal.

On weekends, I like to cook a big breakfast, if I can. Sausages, potatoes w/ onions, scrambled eggs, muffins, whatever I get the time to do.

Funny, now that I’m in cooking school, I don’t have much time to cook anymore.
