Yeah, I might have been too hard on Interlaken. It is pretty, but my “home base” was Colorado at the time, so it seemed like Estes Park, only not as much fun. There are plenty hikes, paragliding, lake stuff, etc. in Colorado, and it just wasn’t as “Swiss” as I wanted. If I was living in Chicago, I might have had a different perspective. If I’m ever back, and have the coin, I would take the train ride, it looks really cool on TV.
So, Foxy40, how was your trip?
As promised, here are my photo’s from my trip to Switzerland. There was so much to do and see in Montreux that I really didn’t end up going anywhere else! The only mishap was my luggage was lost both ways. Only had a small carry on with one change of clothing that had to last two days (thanks for that wonderful tip). Quite annoying. Of course having it lost coming back wasn’t so bad because I had no need for the winter clothes that were packed.
The weather was a nice 50 during the day. The country is beautiful, the chocolate is as good as you hear it is. We dropped a few bucks in the casino but it was painless. The exchange rate was terrible as I was warned but I still managed to pick up a few things for the kids. I wish I knew more French but most knew English or tried to communicate. Everyone was very friendly. It is a beautiful country with wonderful people. The FLOWERS, were breathtaking and I took many pictures.
Thanks again for all the advice. My next trip should be to Japan in July so I will probably bother you fine folks again.
A statue of Freddie Mercury?! How cool is that!
Beautiful pics, most look like postcards. Looks like a great time of year to be in Switzerland!
