Hey, Y’all I’m not angry. I’ve got nothing to flame about. Just looking for some feedback 'cause I’ve pissed **Czarcasm** off again and I want to make sure everyone knows I want to be friends and play nice and all. I’m sure most people who have been visiting these boards for a while have noticed that **IMHO** can tend to get very sexually explicit. As I write this there are 4 Threads on the front page of IMHO that are sexually explicit in nature. With pure intentions and the highest sociological goals I began [this Thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=255970), just interested in how enthusiasticly this may at times affect some members of the SDMB Community. I thought it was a valid topic but I got a quick lockdown. So I’m intersted to know people’s thoughts on just how far it too far in terms of discussion of personal sexual topics. I know **Czarcasm** was particularly perturbed by my suggestion of links- but I did use a “joking!” smilie just like he advised me to make a habit of doing [just yesterday (Reply #38)](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=255632) :smack: Anyway, just want to reiterate that I ain’t angry, but this is the second day in a row that I’ve pissed **Czarcasm** off- and I can’t post an apology in a locked Thread, so I’ve come here. ☹ ---

Man… people can say whatever they want. Doesn’t bother me one little bit. They can talk about whatever gender preference they want, or whatever sexual preference they want… I couldn’t care less. If I see a thread which interests me, I’ll open it. If I see a thread which is obviously sexual in nature, they bore the crap out of me and I move on. Would that it were that more people had the same philosophy instead of trying to force THEIR moral certitudes on to others. You wanna talk dirty? Go ahead. I’ll be in the General Debates Forum talking about how the US lost the Vietnam War. As they say… different strokes for different folks. ---

I have to admit, I think the thread you started was pretty stupid. But I probably would have ignored it anyway. I seem to remember **Czarcasm** saying things before along the lines of, “This is not the Penthouse forums. Take your fantasies elsewhere.” This seems right in character for him, at least to me. ---

While I’m not going to search for it while at work, I remember a Mod locking a sexual thread with the idea of “If it’s like a Medical Discussion, it’s okay. If it’s like a Penthouse Forum letter, it’s not.” As for the other post of **bienville** ’s, name calling is stupid and juvenile. ---

That’s why I’m not upset about the Lockdown- it really wasn’t any real loss, I think we’ll all do just fine without it. The significant difference is that rather than use the word “stupid”, I’d have all used the word “silly”. But, when I’m being playful or gently teasing, I do feel quite badly when someone believes I was trying to be either disrespectful or hurtful. **Annie-Xmas** is still offended by a remark that was already followed by an apology, an apology that was accepted by all parties concerned. I don’t want to check my sense of humor at the door (even if it’s not universally appreciated), because I feel that the vast diversity of personality types really makes these boards special. However, If I’m not communicating myself effectively- or if I’m just completely out of bounds- I’d like to try to do better. In person so much meaning is added by gestures and tone of voice. On Messageboards we lose those elements. ---

It’s frankly quite amazing that any post on the SDMB would be sexually arousing in any way — even if the poster were a young, nubile princess, reading as she writhes quietly in a bath of rose water, the droplets clinging to her nimble, buoyant breasts until they fall away into rivulets that trickle down the curves of her tight, bronze body, gathering in a warm, shallow pool at her navel, where her finger teases them as she giggles, bites her swollen red lip, and shares her morning fantasy with the world. ---

Okay. I’m going to spell it out. When you start discussing things that other people say that get you all tingly inside, IT COULD EMBARRASS THE PERSON IN THE THREAD YOU WERE REFERRING TO. We don’t want to do that. We’re supposed to be nice to each other around here (with some exceptions, of course). Sigh…this is becoming somewhat tiresome. ---
