Hooray and huzzah, my town is finally getting a Major League Baseball team!! But now we have to get down to the business of picking a name. Although I like **The Washington Senators** on its face, the name now has something of a taint on it, thanks to the fact that two teams with that name have skipped town. So maybe it’s time for something new. Here are a few suggestions already tossed around my workplace: \*\*The Washington Fat Cats The Washington Federals The Washington Insiders The Washington Alerts\*\* – complete with different uniform colors based on whatever the terrorist alert level is! Anyone got any other ideas (joking or legitimate)? ---

Something like “The Washington Highrollers” so when the team is moved to Las Vegas in 3 years they don’t have to worry about reprinting so much stuff. ---

Instead of “The Capitals” how about “The Murder Capitals?” –The Political Action Committee. I just would like to hear the announcers say, “The Pirates faced off against The PAC last night…” Instead of “Whiteskins” try “The Honkeys” or “The Rednecks.” It’s supposed to be offensive, after all. ---

[Nitpick]The _first_ incarnation of the Senators wasn’t actually named the Senators. Their real name was the Washington Nationals; everybody just called them the Senators. I’d be for Nationals, since the OP precludes Senators. ---

**bup** , the last 2 releases of “Washington Senators” were in the AL. You might know the saying, “Washington: First in war, first in peace, and last in the American League.” But now, “Nationals” might make sense. Defunct team names are fair game: Federals, Bullets, Diplomats, Ambassadors come to mind - but they’re as associated with failure as Senators. A few more: The Washington Freddy “Boom Booms”. The Washington Carvers. The DC Current. ---
