# What should the new Washington baseball team be called?

How about the Washington **Cherry Blossoms**? They could wear pink & white, and reinvigorate interest in baseball within the gay community.

Seriously, though, I like the sound of the Washington **Federals**.

The Royals were not named in honor of a Negro League team. You’re probably thinking of the Montreal Royals, for whom Jeckie Robinson played before he came up to the Brooklyn Dodgers, but that team was International League - regular, white-race, minor league.

And they weren’t named in honor of that team either - they were named for the [American Royal](http://www.americanroyal.com/), a livestock show that takes place annually in Kansas City.

I’m surprised no one here suggested the [DC PAC-Men.](http://espn.go.com/i/magazine/new/uni_pac_full.jpg) That’s a pretty brilliant entry in [ESPN’s design the Expos’ new uniform context](http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/041118).
