# What should we display out of the "windows" of a spaceship?

In one of my stories the protagonist finds herself on an interstellar spacecraft. The passengers are kept in cryostorage for most of the hundred-year journey, but they are each woken for a few days every decade or two in order to treat freezer damage (which can only be treated at body temperature). The living space in the ship is tiny - smaller than a single story house - but the walls are covered in phased array optics that display a vast Earth landscape in three dimensions. She eventually finds a tiny porthole about two inches across, but she can’t see anything out of it, except a glimpse of a repair bot on the outside of the ship, idle. Coldsleep was a blessed release from this tedium.
