Ok, I’m having a whole “playlist”. No sermons, no eulogies, just music. **Yesterday** but it MUST be the Beatles. Though I have the feeling there is more. I want a lot of music at my funeral. I’m not a musician, but I have used music many times in my life to convey how I feel. ---

**Maha Mrityunjaya** , chanted by a deep-voiced Dane as they scatter my ashes over the ice plants along the Pacific Coast Highway just south of San Simeon. I think the chanter is named Gert. I really should transfer the only tape I have of this to CD. I’d probably drive off the road if the tape got ruined. ---

“Amazing Grace” played on the Pipes of course…but at the graveside done by a real piper, not on a recording during the funeral… “Life Without You” by Stevie Ray Vaughn, maybe (might be a little too much, maybe “Little Wing” instead…) Loreena McKennit’s version of “Bonny Portmore” “He” by the Righteous Brothers (cool blue-eyed soul gospel) Just as long as there isn’t that cheezy ambient organ music you always hear before, during and after funerals. If they do play that crap, I’ll get up and unplug the speakers myself! ---

I want “By My Side” from _Godspell_ played at my funeral. It has a hauntingly beautiful melody and the song’s theme of going on a journey is appropriate for a funeral. I want people to cry their eyes out when I die. ---

Some that have been mentioned before: **Imagine** , by John Lennon **What a Wonderful World** , by Louie Armstrong, and as it ends, **On Green Dolphin Street** , as played by Miles Davis on the Stella by Starlight album (with John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, and Bill Evans, probably the greatest jazz band there ever was, with the exception of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie jammin’ all by themselves), just because that has to be just about the most beautiful melody line ever written. ---

When my ashes are on display, the only thing I want to be played is some very simple classical… Water Music is appropriate for me… I would hope that my daughter would sing, as I think she’s going to have an incredible voice. Also, if I have time, I will have played a message from myself to all those that are there… assuming I haven’t died from Flaming Death falling from the sky or something… hehehe At the party, only happy music will be played, and if anyone cries at my moving on, they will be kicked in the nuts. Seriously. ---
