I don’t even really want a funeral…I think it should be a mix of funeral and wake (so long as someone buys me a round 😉 ) but I know how I want to be taken to my final resting place: I want a New Orleans jazz band on the final trip! I’ve always thought that would be the greatest way to go. ---

“Gone” by Jerry Cantrell - Good song. “Man in the Box” or “Them Bones” by Alice in Chains - I know my buddies would laugh at this. “Nothing Else Matters” (S&M Version) by Metallica - Seems more appropriate then “Fade to Black.” “Brother” (unplugged) by Alice in Chains - I always liked this song. ---

“I’ll be watching you” - I bet Sting wasn’t thinking of people using that song as a threat to haunt survivors… The Beatles’ “Taxman” is another option, reminding people of the two constants of life. More traditionally, Satchmo’s “It’s a wonderful world” and the Anfield song “You’ll never walk alone”. ---

I absolutely refuse to die unless they play “Spirit In The Sky” at my funeral. Full blast. Now, I actually have this in the will/instructions I wrote up a few years back. All my friends know it and so do most of the people from church. And at my church, they’ll probably do it! After all, they show Mr Bean clips during the service…😃 “Stairway To Heavan” will probably be in there too. For some reason that song has popped up, in one form or other, during most of the major events in my life. It happens to the point where it’s gotten kind of spooky. I love “Open Mic” time at funerals too. I got up to comment at two, both ladies of humour, and cracked the place up, which I know they would have greatly enjoyed. Nothing objectionable, just memories and comments about my friends that made people smile. I hope someone gets up and does a real number on me, the kind of routine that has the whole place howling. I’ve certianly given 'em plenty of ammo! Oh, and “Amazing Grace” of course. I’d like the church band to play it and everyone can join in. It’s just not fair to have to hear “Amazing Grace” if you can’t sing along! 🙂 ---
