I’m not kidding when I say kylie minogue"s “cant get you out of my head”. God that song will never stop playing over and over again in my head. It’s driving me crazy. Also, after seeing the video on muchmusic I can’t get jefferson starship(?)'s we bulit this city out of my head for what felt like a eternity. ---

“Fingertips” by Poe. I read something in a thread about her brother’s book(House of Leaves, which I haven’t read yet) yesterday, and now this song is stuck in my head. It’s not one of my favorities, and I haven’t heard it for a couple of months, so I’m not sure why this particular song by her is in my head. ---

A few weeks ago while drying the dishes from a Sunday dinner my “friend” Melissa, complaining about the song stuck in her head, turns to me and says: M: “You remember the Flintstones, right?” C.S.: “Of course.” M: “Remember Pebbles and Bam-Bam?” C.S.: “Certainly.” M: “Remember when they became singing sensations?” C.S.: “Sure…wait…oh, sweet jumping Jebus…nooooooooooooooooooooo!” **So let the sun shiiiiine iiiiiiin/Each and ev’ry day/Smile in ev’ry way/Open up your heart and let the suuuuun shiiiiiiiine iiiiiiiin** It’d been lurking in there ever since, popping up when I thought it might be gone. I was contemplating a murder/suicide. Then I read this thread and it, thankfully and blessedly, was replaced by Billy Bragg’s cover of Woody Guthrie’s “Way Down Over in the Minor Key” (a song I love - thanks **auliya** ). On a related note, Leo Kottke mentioned in concert once that he used to get the Woody Woodpecker Theme stuck in his head (this used to happen to me, too) until he learned to play it backward. Melissa’s evil method is to pass it on and revel in the shared misery. My method is to make up obscene lyrics. Maybe someday I’ll treat the SDMB to my rendition of “When Your Keister Gets Laid” (sung to the tune of Irving Berlin’s “Easter Parade”). ---

And, to answer lard2000’s question about rouging one’s knees, I believe that when flappers’ hemlines climbed above the knee for the first time, those wicked young ladies used to rouge them (yes, like blusher) to emphasize them. I keep hearing “The Red,” by Chevelle. I can think of much worse songs–a couple of weeks ago, it was Bill Cosby’s “Picture Pages” song. Does anyone else remember that? Wish I hadn’t thought of it, now it’s going to get stuck again! ME ---

Well, for about 4 days I had a Hall and Oates mix playing in my head non-stop. It started with “Method of Modern Love” and as I tried to get THAT song out of my head, other Hall and Oates songs took its place. Luckily, I seemed to have changed my subconscious CD player and now I have: “Oh, my! Starry-eyed surprise! Sundown to sunrise, Dance all night, We’re gonna dance all night, sugar Dance all night to this DJ!” by Paul Oakenfold playing over and over in my head. Which is far better than Hall and Oates but I am sure I’ll grow tired of it soon. My subconscious DJ doesn’t seem to have much variety in his song collection. ---

Anything off of “Leaving through the bedroom window” by something corporate. Oddly enough, I just got a boatload of CDs, and with the exception of MXPX it was the worst of the bunch. aint that always the way. Speaking of which, “responsibility” by MXPX has been in my head too. Why cant Camper Van Beethoven, Elvis Costello, or Dashboard Confessional stay in there instead? ---
