Jefferson Airplane, White Rabbit.
“If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out” by Cat Stevens
“Come Sail Away” by Styx
When I was in high school, those were magical songs for me; they seemed to sum up a world full of endless amazing possibilities.
I’m so glad that some U.S. telephone company has revived “If You Want to Sing Out” for its TV commercials. Every time I hear that song, it makes me smile.
And another nod for Simon & Garfunkel’s “59th Street Bridge Song.” Frequently, when I find myself rushing along the city sidewalks, annoyed at people getting in my way while I’m trying to hurry to work, I remind myself
*Slow down, you move too fast,
You’ve got to make the morning last . . .
*
Always puts me back in the right frame of mind.
Yeah, I remember listenig to that sitting in my car with the Love of My Life at her apartment complex, she swimming at night, wet in the seat next to me. She sang with the band. Avoiding her Mother.
Things did not work out.
