“Hold Me Close” by David Essex (UK)

“Bad Blood” by Neil Sedaka (US)

“I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” by Abba (Oz)

Quite the mix I have there.

Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You was apparently taking over the world on my birthday, except for Australia, who was really into George Michael at the time.

I don’t remember what song was #1 the day I was born. I was screaming too loud to hear over the Muzak in the nursery, anyway.
I wonder if it’s theoretically possible for a grandmother and grandchild to have been born while the same singer had number 1 hits. Figure the hits would have to be at least 35- preferably more- years apart. Tony Bennett or Frank Sinatra would probably be the most likely contenders for the singer.
Cher had a #1 in 1965 (“I Got You Babe,” with Sonny) and in 1998 (“Believe”), which is 33 years. Wikipedia says it’s the longest span of #1 hits, for what it’s worth.

In the UK: _No Other Love_ by **Ronnie Hilton**. I’ve not had the privilege of hearing this one.

In Australia: _Mack the Knife_ by **Louis Armstrong**. A good cover, but I _really_ dig Ella Fitzgerald’s version from Berlin.

In the USA: _Hot Diggity_ by **Perry Como**. In an astounding coincidence, I have this song on my personalized disk of karaoke tracks, because my daughter loves it so much.

Thanks for the fun link **Spiritinthesky**!
US: “Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself Again” - Sly and the Family Stone. That’s amusingly appropriate for me.
Did they really spell it that way? Because the original Sly song is titled “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” ([cite](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thank_You_(Falettinme_Be_Mice_Elf_Agin))). I owned the single and it was backed with “Everybody Is A Star.”

For me:

US: “Don’t Be Cruel/Hound Dog” - Elvis Presley
UK: “Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be Will Be)” by Doris Day
Oz: “Moonglow – Theme From Picnic” – Morris Stoloff

I feel old too. Most of the ones people are saying they never heard of, I can start humming in my head when I see the title.
“Wuthering Heights” - Kate Bush (UK)
