Yes, she is. She’s pretty much a one-hit wonder.

And I’m the Doper responsible for the bump. I did a search for a completely different thread and this was one of the ones that came up.

Go figure.😛

Whew I almost jided Coldfire for being a wet blanket and sniping at Opal for starting a thread that was started six months prior back in 2001! Then I noticed the dates!

Any way it says the \*\* SHirelles’ \*\* - \*\* Soldier Boy\*\* was the hit when I was born. When were soldiers ever called boys? I mean in the USA?

What song kept a-ha’s “Take On Me” from reaching the top of the UK charts - the only major chart where it did not snatch the #1 spot as it was burning itself into the brain cells of a generation?
Okay, Alex, I’ll stick with this category. “Useless Facts Nobody Else on the SDMB Knows Or Cares About” for 800 😛

Topping both the UK and the US charts when I was born: _Honky Tonk Woman_ by the Rolling Stones. Note to the Stones: You’re gettin’ old, guys.

Fella bilong missus flodnak was born into a world where Harry Belafonte’s version of _Mary’s Boy Child_ topped the UK charts, while the Pelvis himself held the #1 spot on the US charts with _Jailhouse Rock_.

Incidentally, the page will work even with a fake address…
