Why do you have to go around playing the Celine Dion card–it’s like shooting fish in a barrel, of course anything she sings is going to be pure torture to listen to. Virtually anything on TRL Most songs that are overly repetitive (especially, "I’m coming up…so you’d better get this party started…get this party started…get this party started…get this party started…yadda yadda ad nauseam) ---

I’m glad I saw this thread – I was considering starting a Pit thread for this song alone. I don’t know the title or the so-called artists; I’ve never hung around long enough to hear them. All I know is I’ve been hearing a lot of this country-style glurgy duet on the local pop radio station: She:_I was headin’ to chu-urch._ He:_I was out to drink you away._ Both:_I saw your picture day I swear I changed my way I just called to say I love you Come back home._ Sexist stereotypes, people behaving badly and/or stupidly, bad singing, what’s not to hate? I’ll also throw out the one artist who I’ll turn off as soon as I can get a finger on the radio: John Cougar Melloncamp, or whatever he’s calling himself these days. Of all his songs, and the one which wants me to do things which would ruin my image is _I Want a Lover Who Won’t Drive Me Crazy_. That one I used to resent because I’d get suckered in by the opening instrumental, which I still like, but get blind-sided by the lyrics. Then again, I like a lot of the songs people have listed here. Besides, I like folk music. (The sneering may now commence.) CJ (formerly cjhoworth) ---

My wife has a liking for it and I almost yak my lunch up whenever she catches it on VH1 and cranks the volume. I believe the song is called “Picture”. ---

“please don’t take the girl” makes me want to do in the girl, her family, the boy’s family and finally the boy himself just so he will shut his gob. ---

“Don’t Take The Girl” is probably the worst of Tim McGraw’s crimes against music, which covers his entire misbegotten career. That song is the definition of sap. Pathetic. Anybody whose only vocal distinction is that his warbling and quite weak voice always sounds like he has a plug of chewing tobacco in his mouth, doesn’t deserve to be heard. ---

anything that is on MTV or the radio. good music has gone to seed these days. rap, country, r&b all suck ---

We’re three screens deep on this thread and I don’t think anyone has mentioned WHAM! yet. Certainly I’m not the only one who wanted to take a belt sander to his ears every time “Wake Me Up, Before You Go-Go” came on the radio (for the 1,873,456,955th time!). And what’s that song where a supposedly male singer says “Walk like a man, talk like a man…” This one instantly doubles my blood pressure. I must agree with several of the ones already mentioned in this thread. ---

Besides, with the Canadian Content Regulations, her songs are played way more frequenty on the radio here than stateside. So given this situation, I think the shooting of fish in barrels is good for our psychological well being. Even if it is petty. ---

Is it possible that no one here shares my loathing for Foreigner? I hate them with the burning passion of a thousand suns. I cannot change the station fast enough when I hear the strains of “Hot Blooded” or “Jukebox Hero.” There are other songs I hate, but the thought of the evil Foreigner drives out all other hatreds. ---

My worst offenders: “Seasons in the Sun” Terry Jacks (bloody song about death, blegggh) “Angie” Rolling Stones (people used to constantly sing this to me while growing up, and now, I’m big enough to threaten them with grevious bodily harm if they do today) “Hotel California” Eagles (forced by sadistic gym teacher to perform “fitness routines” to this song every morning for almost a year) “Hot Child in the City” Nick Guilder (tastless and irritating) ---
