# What Songs Make You Cry?

Which songs make you cry?
There can be a story, but I am more looking for songs that just make you choke up from some quality in the music, vocals, whatever…
Here’s a partial list for me (I cry pretty easily)
**Superstar** - The Carpenters
**Cool Blue Reason** - Cake
**Do You Realize?** - The Flaming Lips
**Love is Blue** - I’m not sure about the artist, but it is an instrumental and French
**The Night Chicago Died** - Again, I don’t know the artist, and maybe that’s not even the title
**After the Gold Rush** - Neil Young, the whole album
**One Foot in the Grave** -Beck, the whole album
**Killing Me Softly** -Roberta Flack

“Watching TV”, Roger Waters – not the song itself really, but the part in the middle that samples _Waiting for Our Executioners_. I do just fine until the crying Chinese girl says “Long live the Republic!”

Not sure why but Going to California by Led Zeppelin often gets me going when Robert Plant declares, “It’s not as hard, hard, hard as it seems.” I guess they’re more tears of hope than sadness.

**I Can’t Make You Love Me** by Bonnie Raitt. I first heard it as I was breaking up with a guy, in the same situation as the singer of the song.

_Who Are You_ by Tom Waits. It’s hard to explain from just the lyrics; they seem too surreal to be all that sad. But when he sings them I often find myself crying, for the sheer pain in his voice.
