What sort of QB job would Colin Kaepernick be willing to take?

For what it’s worth, I think that story was crap. Ray Lewis isn’t a trustworthy source. A lot of players have outspoken wives, girlfriends or relatives. Brent Grimes didn’t have any trouble finding a new job after his wife Miko said some crazy stuff.

She did make the post that’s not in dispute. She directly went after the owner not just said some crazy stuff. On top of everything else that was the last straw.

The Seahawks gave him a tryout (they believe in “you break it, you buy it”, hence Walsh is their kicker) and an athletic QB capable of making plays with his feet is a good fit for them. But I think it just came down to price and as is the case lately they’ve been having to make tough salary cap decisions (another reason why Walsh is around instead of the more expensive Hauschka). Austin Davis, the current backup, was cheaper.

So price is a factor. (I believe RGIII was also considered briefly by the Hawks at some point, another “you break it you buy it” since he got his career-changing injury against them.)

I think RGIII and Kaepernick are very comparable. They were once starters and were considered very good, and were successful, but just don’t have it anymore.

That was my thought, too. It’s not like Kap is a drop-in replacement for Russ Wilson, but there are enough similarities in play style, talent, and strengths that Kap wouldn’t have to unlearn a lot to run with Seattle’s offense. But he was going to be just too damn expensive, and the Hawks already have Russ Wilson, so for all the good technical fit it just wasn’t going to work from the front office perspective.

I think the players like and respect him too for the most part. I’ve heard of a few Seahawks who’d hang out with him in the offseason. They just can’t afford him.

I won’t lie, I liked the idea. It just didn’t work.
