what technilogical advancements did you hope for as a kid?

Let’s see… when I was a kid I used to have a rich imagination for this kind of thing. What happened? Do I remember any of this?

There was this network of computers that would allow the exchange of software and ideas between any two terminals in the world. Oh, right, we have that now.

Remote controls that attach directly to the brain. No need to type, use a steering wheel, or a blender ever again.

Teleportation is such an incredibly good idea. And I used to think I knew how it could be done. If that didn’t work, I had a pretty good notion of all the if-only’s that would make hyperspace a reality.

Four hour long roller coaster rides.

A vast database that can upload and replicate every all the chatter of every neuron, every memory, every process that makes up a “soul”, so that heaven would exist in a vast computer buried somewhere in the Rocky Mountains.

I wanted a personal flight suit. Not quite like a jetpack, more like a wearable airplane, with wings and propellers. I even drew up plans to build my own out of cardboard, lumber scraps, and a few electric motors.

I also wanted them to put wings on the cars so they could fly.

I thought that in the future, everyone would have nuclear reactors in their back yards, so they wouldn’t need to get power or heat from the electric and gas/oil companies anymore.
