Then it was explained to me and I went “Ahh…”. Then the douchbaggery and intentional misunderstanding/misrepresentation that some people here are famous for began, and now there’s another “PC pileup” where everyone tries to prove that everyone else is a really stupid racist bigot who doesn’t understand anything and is just a big poppyhead and should kill themselves or at least go away and never come back… which is pretty much standard here in my experience. There is a LOT of pent up anal retentiveness around here, a lot of micro penis syndrome and a lot of creatures that dwell under bridges and fear sunlight. The SDMB is a very interesting and aggressive microcosm. Look elsewhere for love, compassion or mutual understanding, they are not qualities that tend to survive in this climate for very long. ---

His mistake then got explained to him, but instead of going “ahhh, okay then, silly me”, he continued to be mad as hell. And some people made funny fun of that. Can’t really see the douchbaggery. ---

Look, people get upset when their errors are pointed out to them. In this case the OP was flat-out wrong. A reasonable person should simply say “d’oh” and no-one thinks any the worse of them. ---

Actually I see him very clearly going “Ahh… duh!” and then some hobgoblins try to make him confess that he’s REALLY a racist/bigot/idiot or whatnot. Which is, seriously, standard around here. I did walk away from this train wreck, not because some error about myself was pointed out to me and I can’t handle it but because the question was asked and answered (by most in a pretty harsh , unnecessarily dickish way). Why on earth would I sit around for the pile on that is so common around here? As is typical in real life conversations, and very much rampant here, is that people read the thread and spent all their energy composing their smug, humorous (in their minds anyway)responses rather pay attention to what I was actually trying to say? Never mind that I expressed from the get go that I was questioning myself - I said it outright- but even after I tried to explain in subsequent responses where I was coming from, no one could be bothered to comprehend what I was saying. Hey, it happens a lot here and in fact I’m sure I’ve been guilty of it myself. I was sincerely gobsmacked at the hostile responses and after thinking about it I realized that people were trying to attribute . . . some kind of negative agenda to my thinking / question. That is all in their minds and not my problem. I do regret snapping at **Czarcasm** (yes, sir, I know you do not care one way or the other)so apologies to him for that. I actually would have preferred this to have been taken to the pit because, believe me, I was far past over my gut reaction to the shirt and was at the time wondering why everyone was being so rude. Last time I’m gonna say it folks; I understand the shirt thing (and in fact understood after the first couple of “helpful” people explained it) and please feel free to carry on with the feeding frenzy. Just thought that since I started the thing I should at least come back and comment. ---

It is pretty obviously a jab at the fashion industry, or perhaps _by_ the fashion industry at Chanel specifically. I can’t imagine anyone seriously thinking it referred to either climate talks or terror attacks. ---

Is there more to this that my old, unhip self doesn’t know about? What do you all think about the shirt? Are you implying that the t-shirts say, in effect, “No one cares about the Paris attacks”? They don’t. They were probably printed many months ago, and designed some time before that. ---
