Just as a suggestion, the next time you loan out your computer, go to the Control Panel and create a new account for the other user, and password protect your own account. There should be a way to make their account a non-administrator, so that they can’t do much in the way of damage.

Can you do that with XP Home or just XP Pro? I agree that it’s a good idea if possible. I’d also try the system restore before I would go all the way to re-format and re-install.
