And anyway, the whole concept is flawed, because it would be her Mother’s milk that would make them milk siblings. Strangely, in Arab culture it is perfectly fine to marry your cousin (even encouraged) but not OK to marry a man who has suckled from the same wet nurse that you did. ---

I know this is just a joke to us, but do you sometimes just mentally say to yourself “Ok stop. This is… a real thing. In the real world. This is really happening. People get lashed and killed for this shit” and then have some part of your brain explode? So like - does it always have to be beforehand? What if a guy accidentally sees a girl’s face? Is she going to be lashed for it? Could he say “oh shit I saw your face! Quick, let me suck your tits!” to smooth the situation over? Because that seems like it would definitely preserve modesty. ---

I think this is what happens in any society that is as sexually repressed as the Saudis. It fucks up the brain, leading to all sorts of bizarre behavior. We should learn from it, and reject conservative notions of sexual propriety, lest we end up drinking our women’s milk in order to save our souls. ---

In the interests of fighting ignorance I weaned my breastfed daughter five years ago. I can STILL get milk from my breasts. :eek: I kept trying to figure out why I tee shirt I had on the other day was getting stained when it finally dawned on me to check underneath only to discover my left breast was leaking milk. As for the OP the Saudis are simply scum. They’re paranoid, mysogenist, backwards assholes and the best argument for reducing our reliance on oil as a source of energy. [Here’s](http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/01/world/middleeast/01iht-saudi.html?scp=1&sq=saudi&st=cse) an insane little recent New York Times article in which grown Saudi women actually argue they need a guardian to supervise their own lives as if they were errant five year olds. It is nearly impossible to have any sort of respect for a culture that creates adult women who think like that. ---

While Saudi Arabia is admittedly fucked up, it is important to note that most Saudis thought the breast milk fatwa was pretty weird too. ---
