Hmm. Honestly, it worked well for me-- it even filtered out some newsletters that I subscribe to. I have the protection level set on “High”, but it sounds like you might need to take the time to set it on “Exclusive”. I think only one piece of junk mail has come into my account with High filtration, compared to the 20 or so a day that go to the Junk Mail folder. I hope I didn’t sound snotty earlier, I just figured it would work equally well for everyone. However, my Hotmail account isn’t my primary address, which probably helps, as well.
My Hotmail account is my primary, and I have the filter set to “Low”. I still get junk mail, about ten messages a day or so. (I’m an e-mail junkie, so I don’t mind, I did want to make sure that I got my newsletters and departmental e-mails and my random junk I like.) I also have my Junk mailbox set to delete everything in it every few days.
It works well for me as I don’t get too riled about spam and what I see I can take care of.
