i bow humbly to the dope’s overwhelming knowledge. crawfish hole it is. since the critter is no danger to anyone, i won’t be contacting the condo association doing my best impression of a female on a chair screeching at a mouse. live and let live. thanks to one and all who weighed in. most appreciated! ---

Tie a small piece of uncooked bacon to the end of a small string, and dangle it down in the hole. The crawdad will grab hold of it and not want to let go, so if you’re careful you can pull it out. Either let it go, your curiosity fulfilled, or boil it up and eat the tail. Suck the head if you’re feeling really adventurous. ---

I’m not sure if anyone has considered this remote possibility, but it’s entirely possible that there is a crawdad hole. ---
