Tie a small piece of uncooked bacon to the end of a small string, and dangle it down in the hole. The crawdad will grab hold of it and not want to let go, so if you’re careful you can pull it out.
Either let it go, your curiosity fulfilled, or boil it up and eat the tail. Suck the head if you’re feeling really adventurous.

Have you considered the possibility that it’s a crawfish hole? 
I think the hole belongs to the craw’s father.
I’m not sure if anyone has considered this remote possibility, but it’s entirely possible that there is a crawdad hole.
And when there was no crawdad, we ate sand.
