> Regarding the OP: Why oh why don’t manufacturers use different sized snaps for the legs versus the chest? Whenever I get to the crotch region, I’m bamboozled trying to figure out how on earth to match up the snaps correctly.

Some of them do now! I think they heard the grumbles and swears of parents. My littler one has some Carter’s footed suits which have large leg snaps and small torso snaps.

Sounds similar to my girl, although mine was a bit bigger at one. I hated seeing all those out-of-season clothes go unworn, but I still have plans to get them to a consignment shop one of these days…

I just wanted to say that the phrase “thermal integrity” used in reference to babies is hilarious. Thank you.

3 months and you’re complaining? Go out and get a greased pig or angry weasel and start practicing putting overalls on 'em now, or yer kid’s gonna be naked from 18-36 months.

Heh, I’m more likely to do that than he is. Hell, I almost took Tinkleberry to the store in just a shirt and diaper today.

> **An Arky** , it is to laugh! I got a baby gift of some onesies and assorted baby clothes yesterday, and the (shortsleeved, no legs) onesies will literally hold my micropremie inside the body with no arms, legs or head sticking out the appropriate holes! I can’t believe how huge these things look to me now. 😃

Oooh! Ooh! Ooh! When Tinkleberry was born he could only wear preemie stuff. We had to bring him home in the hospital shirt because he was way tinier than expected. It was pretty embarassing to find out newborn sized take-home outfit was just ridiculous and be totally unprepared with preemie clothes.

Anyway, my point is that I have some preemie clothes here that were barely worn. They would be appropriate for a girl. Would you like them?

Trust me, she’ll outgrow them quick. 🙂 Tinkle is now 3 mos, 1 week, and almost wearing 6-9 mos sized outfits.

> Iamnotaparent, but when I suggested this to a friend she said that babies need clothes because they have very little mass to hold the heat and get cold very quickly. She may have been blowing smoke up my skirts for all I know, but small babies don’t look like they have much thermal integrity so maybe she’s right.

After the first few days, babies _in general_ don’t need to be dressed any warmer than you do. My son is exactly like me- hot in any temperature. We both were sweaty, cranky, red, and heat rashy today. It was 73 degrees.

There’s a lot of naked at my house, to say the least.

Ooh! I’d love them! Email me (it’s in my profile) and I’ll email my address back.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou! 😃

(And Caileigh thanks you too, of course!)

My nephew is a tall and skinny one. He hates sleeping in legged stuff because his knees get caught up and he can’t kick (his favorite pastime).

I was born with tiny tiny alien baby legs. My femurs disappeared under my copious layers of belly fat. Doctors told my mother I wouldn’t walk without braces and special shoes.

I’m 5’9 and all legs now.

> My toddler certainly falls in that category. Her favored at home outfit is a diaper and nothing else. It weirds me out but then again her father’s the same way. From October to April I rarely have on less than four layers even indoors. He marches around the house in his underwear and only puts on a hat if there’s a blizzard outside.

I now have an image of your husband marching around the house wearing on his underwear and a fedora. Because there’s a blizzard outside.

😃😃😃😃😃

That’s actually kind of close to reality. He’s fond of teasing me about how I hate the cold. Sometimes he walks around the house when it’s snowing outside wearing nothing but socks, shoes and a hat.

I swear we’re moving to a warmer climate when we retire whether he wants to or not. 😛

Just try to find baby clothes cut to go over cloth diapers, too. We wound up putting Littlest in the next size up, just so the snaps would close over her big poofy cloth diaper-butt. I mean, now that everybody uses ultrathin diapers, the idea of cloth is so foreign that clothes the right size _can’t_ accommodate them.
