A couple of things I’ve noticed on the umpteenth time viewing this classic
-
When Phil gives Larry the cameraman (the Chris Elliott character) a countdown “On me in 3 - 2 - 1” he counts down on his fingers. The count of 1 is the middle finger extended
-
Phil gets hit on the head with a shovel when trying to make a phone call after the blizzard has started. Is it the resulting concussion that’s being shown for the rest of the movie? (I hope not - that’d be too boring)

Good evening. Tonight on ‘It’s the Mind’, we examine the phenomenon of déjà vu. That strange feeling we sometimes get that we’ve lived through something before, that what is happening now has already happened.
Jelly Doughnut?
My favourite part is the armoured car…
Herman, the guard on I think it was the left, the one who scratches his ear in befuddlement, was Chet Dubowski, an executive producer on the film.
I always drink to World Peace.
- It’s coooold out there every day. What is this, Miami Beach?
- Not hardly. And you know, you can expect hazardous travel later today with that, you -know, that, uh, that blizzard thing.
- That blizzard - thing. That blizzard - thing. Oh, well, here’s the report! The National Weather Service is calling for a “big blizzard thing!”
- Yeees, they are. But you know, there’s another reason why today is especially exciting.
- Especially cold!
- Especially cold, okay, but the big question on everybody’s lips…
- On their chapped lips…
- On their chapped lips, right: do ya think Phil is gonna come out and see his shadow?
- Punxsutawney Phil!
- That’s right, woodchuck-chuckers - it’s GROUNDHOG DAY!
“This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.”
Not hardly!

Watch out for that first step!
What, is it snowing in space?
I like to say a prayer and drink to world peace.
World peace…
…Amen.
