What things do you envy in places other than where you live?

I’m with A Spoonful of Awesome on this one. Ocean. Without a doubt. My mental happy place is sitting and listening to surf. Big surf, little surf, no matter. On the other hand, I am nervous about being in the ocean above my thighs.

Being able to walk or take subways anywhere I wanna go. Looking toward the borough of Manhattan. Sacramento is nice and all but its a little to hot for me

I live in northern Idaho. I would give my eyeteeth for fast internet and food delivered right to my door.

Of course, when I had these two features in college, I greatly expanded my girth and have yet to retract it. :smack: Perhaps I’ll keep my eyeteeth for chewing salad.

If you’re talking nature and geographic features, I live in the perfect state – Michigan! It’s hard to enjoy anything else, and I’ve been to a lot of places.

I could be petty and say that I envy the less than 14% unemployment in other parts of the country, but since (knock on wood) it’s not personally affecting me yet, I can’t honestly say I’m envious. Ditto housing devaluation and other economic woes in Michigan.

Good food in Mexicantown part of Detroit, as well as an authentic Mexican wife, so no lack of Mexican food.

I know: when I worked in the Chicago suburbs, I was always envious that middle class people would get on trains from the suburbs (Carol Stream and Wheaton, for example) and arrive to work in the city (around here, public transportation is for the truly desperate). Of course I don’t work in the city, so that’s useless envy.

Got one! Michiganders are cold compared to some of the other midwest states, where the population can be much warmer. We’re cold, suspicious, and unfriendly until you get to know us. Very German in that respect. It’d be nice to say (or have said to you) “Good day!” when walking past someone into a parking lot.
