It’s funny, because the WaPo has to date run two articles based around evaluating Trump against a set of Fascist metrics. Both times the answer was “not a Fascit,” although it was much closer in 2020 than when the first article ran in 2016. I think the article kind of missed the point—both times—because in each case it considered things that he had thus far been prevented from doing.
That is, to the extent he didn’t check certain fascist boxes in 2016, it’s because he had no power. He was just a private citizen. Then come 2020, it seemed like all the new boxes he could have checked as President were indeed checked.
Trump is only “not a Fascist” to the extent he has been restrained to an extent by the US’ built-in limits on presidential power, which he has spent four years eagerly trying to erode. That’s hardly reassuring. Like claiming a wolf in a cage isn’t really a wolf because he hasn’t eaten any sheep yet. Even as the wolf is thrashing and clawing away at its cage and it looks to be coming apart in places.
So, yeah. If you support Trump, you support a Fascist. That means you’re a Fascist.

Regarding many of them: Misguided, ignorant, stupid, and/or mentally-challenged human beings who deserve our pity more than our scorn? I briefly had a Facebook discussion with a friend of a friend, who sounded reasonable enough, until she re-posted the bullshit stories floating around in Maga-land about Biden being a pedophile. She then went on to repeat every conspiracy theory out there about liberals, but I had long since bowed out of the discussion. Anyone who can believe these things, with such passion in the face of absolutely no supporting evidence, obviously have an inability to reason. I truly pity them above all else.
