I made an offer of full refund. No reply yet.

What I’ll do is wait out the time limit, after which the case will be closed automatically.

Hi, I sell alot of stuff on ebay as primary income. I have seen it all. I have also been through alot of claims. You will win the claim if you have proof that the buyer would be happy with a partial refund. The reason that they (ebay) will favor in your side, is they say that a truly unhappy customer will ONLY want a full refund for returning said item. A partial refund request means that the buyer is just nitpicking and wants something for free. I use to always give a partial refund for those types of customers, (usually about 10-15$ refund, but since i heard that I allowed a claim to go to the end, and I got my money. (only if i have a email stating that they would be happy with a partial refund) Not sure if it applies to you, but If they paid with paypal, they could open a new claim thru paypal which will put your funds on hold. Withdraw your money before this happens as if your paypal goes negative, it won’t hurt you.
