What to do in San Juan, Puerto Rico?

I don’t think this is necessarily true. I just happen to spend a lot on food/drinks when I vacation, but there are definitely much cheaper options if you go that route. For example, poolside, bar and restaurant drinks run from $12 - $15, but there are liquor stores and a Walgreens on Ashford where you can cut your liquor costs probably by over 75%.

For 1 drink? That’s nuts!

Glad you enjoyed it, JJ – and yes, ot seems we are on our way to being a gastro-destination.

Yes, I should have mentioned it, the beach at that point in Condado is inferior. You’d have to move quite a bit to the East before you get to good sands and waters (and being on the north side, that’s the Atlantic, rather than the Caribbean)

Yea, as JRDelirious mentions, the north of the island is Atlantic ocean. You have to either go to the islets (Vieques and Culebra) or to the south (Ponce) to see the Caribbean.

And yes, the Condado beaches are inferior (rough and not the best sand) to the other beaches around the island. I still like them, but give me Aguadilla (west), Luquillo (east), or Culebra (paradise) beaches before them.

At the La Concha resort (or at El Convento) you live large and they’ll charge large. Walk a couple of blocks away and you’ll be able to drink on a more reasonable budget
