Whenever I get a lump sum, I save / invest 50% and spend the rest.
It’s working pretty well so far (I’m semi-retired - aged 55 - and am about to buy a model railway!)
Better go half on black and half on red, just to be safe.

Hmm, 10 grand would be a nice thing to have, take a little less stress offa my paycheck (I’ve got a couple savings goals for the summer that I’m nicke&diming for)…
$1000 for a new computer
$3600 put away for books and other school expenses for the next 3 years
$5000 to tuck into a CD I started with my highschool graduation party moolah.
$400 put away for a half-lease on a horse next summer
So I guess I’m with the “save most of it, but treat a little bit too” crowd
