Liquid chocolate falls as a curtain as the goods are conveyed underneath them on a slatted or screened belt. The liquid chocolate that misses the goods (or drips off the goods) drops into a open tub below where it’s pumped back up top, rewarmed, and sprayed again on bars riding by later. So sorta recycled. Solid chocolate confections like Hershey bars or the famous hollow or solid cast Easter bunnies get inspected at the end of the line and any defective ones get tossed aside to be dumped back into the melt tank at the head of the assembly line to be recast into new bars, bunnies, etc. So even more recycled. ---

I think that Augustus Gloop was behind the theft. He used the money he won suing Willy Wonka for safety violations to hire a crew of mercenaries and snag himself enough candy to last him for, er, at least several years, I would think. ---

Assuming 24/7/365 production, that represents about 90 minutes’ worth of shiny fresh newly wrapped KitKats. Now for sure there might be a local issue in whichever county / region / province those bars were destined for. But within a couple days a replacement truckload could be conjured up. Of course if we start seeing a pattern of these thefts, maybe somebody is trying to corner the market _a la_ the Hunt Brothers’ attempt on silver.
