I was given a bottle of Blue Curaçao and I have no idea what to do with it. Any yummy drink suggestions? I was thinking it would be good to mix in with a milkshake, but I’m not sure what to do past that. ---

Years ago my old roommate invented a drink made by layering Blue Curacao, Strega and Hot Sex. He called it a Sexy Sea Witch. It was really cool looking, the yellow, blue and brown layers. I’m sure it was gross, but we were young and silly and drank a LOT of them. But Blue Curacao layers really well, so that’s fun. ---

You can’t go wrong with the Classic Blue Hawaiian. Put on some Polynesian music (or Elvis’ _Blue Hawaii_), kick back outside in a hammock and get hammered. 1.5 oz. Light Rum 1 oz Blue Curacao 2 oz Pineapple Juice 1 oz Cream of Coconut (optional) Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice, shake well, and serve in a Collins glass. Can also be blended. Be secure enough in your masculinity to put a tiny umbrella in it. ---

I don’t remember the exact portions, but you could probably find them online. You can make Romulan Ale with the Blue stuff, orange juice, and gin. ---

You can make a Blue Mother Fucker. It’s essentially a Long Island Iced Tea made with Blue Curacao in place of the Triple Sec and 7up in place of the splash of Coke. Here’s the recipe. 1 oz Silver Rum 1 oz Silver Tequila 1 oz Gin 1 oz Vodka 1 oz Blue Curacao 2 oz Sour Mix Splash of 7up Serve in pint glass full of ice. Garnish with a cherry. You could also make Windex Shots on a lark. It’s not fabulously tasty, but it’s a decent way to get drunk and use up some cheap vodka and blue shit. 1 oz Vodka 1/2 oz Blue Curacao Light Splash of Rose’s Lime Shake over ice and serve in a shot glass. I’ve seen Windex shots made with combos of vodka and rum, with and without the lime juice and using citrus flavored vodka instead of plain. My personal fave is to do Citron, Blue Shit and splash of Malibu to make it slightly more girly if that’s who I’m serving. You could make the Famous Shark Bowl from R.R. in Champaign. 6 oz vodka 6 oz rum 6 oz gin 6 oz Everclear 4 oz Malibu 4 oz Blue Curacao 4 oz sour mix 4 oz pineapple juice 8 oz 7up 1 oz grenadine one plastic shark sixteen 24-36" straws Fill up a 64 oz fish bowl with ice, about 1/2 of the way full. Pour in all your booze, should fill up about 2/3rd of the bowl when you are done. Pour in the mixers and deliver to the soon-to-be-drunks. Plunge in those straws, there needs to be about three per person. Have everyone grab a straw and get ready to drink. Fill the mouth of the toy shark with the grenadine and drop it into the bowl, allowing the “blood” to spill into the “water” and everyone drinks until it’s empty, the faster the better. ---

A popular shot, when I tended bar in college: The Milwaukee River. Equal parts Blue Curacao, vodka, bailey’s, and Jagermeister. Shot of cola for color. Shake well with ice, pour into shot glasses. A hideous shade of green, like a slough in the hottest part of summer. Tasted good, though (honestly, you couldn’t even taste the Jag). ETA: This was, literally, the ONLY thing for which we ever used blue curacao. ---

If you layer blue Curaçao and vodka, pousse-café style, it’s called a “Blue Water and White Death”, which I was told was the name of an Australian movie about sharks. ---

Had this one at The House Of Blues Chicago. It’s basically a screwdriver with a splash of Blue curaco. The blue and orange mix to form a crazy green color. It’s quite tasty! ---

Make Romulan Ale, of course: 1 part Blue Curacao 1 part white rum 2-3 parts Sprite (variable, depending on how strong you want it) half a dozen drops of tabasco sauce (gives it a little kick) The result is bright, vividly blue, illegal in the Federation, and delicious. ---

Black & Blue: 1 part Blue Curacao 1 part Black Haus (blackberry schnapps) maybe a splash of cranberry juice if you like Shake together with ice until cold. Strain and enjoy.
