I find myself in possession of a flask of Everclear and no desire whatsoever to drink it. Is it good for anything other than pouring down a drain? ---

Well, it’s perfectly fine for making non-alcoholic things alcoholic while producing the least possible change to their taste. Juice, soda, milkshakes, whatever. If you don’t like your booze to taste like booze, everclear works. Plus, you can light it on fire! ---

You could use it to dilute essential oils, or as an ingredient in home-made glass cleaner… I’d think it would be useful for anything you’d usually use rubbing alcohol for, actually. ---

Go buy a whole watermelon. Cut a smallish round hole in the top of the watermelon. Slowly pour the Everclear into the hole in the watermelon. Let it marinate a bit. Cut watermelon into pieces. Share and enjoy. ---

Everclear is the base for a Purple Jesus, but I think you’ll need more than a single flask. ---

Take it camping in a flask and use it as cooking (i.e. sterno-like) alcohol instead of denatured alcohol. If you wanna not care about your sores just pour some into your drink – double duty! Oh, you _don’t_ feel like drinking it. I stand by my contention that it can be used as sterno-y alcohol, with the standard caveat that if you change your mind about not drinking it to be very careful that you are not drinking denatured alcohol instead! ---

If you mix it with an equal amount of water, won’t it just become regular ol’ 80 proof vodka? Would you have more use for that? Edit: Or don’t dilute it, and just use haklf as much for any drink you want that uses vodka. ---

I use it as a cleaning agent. Anything that I might have used rubbing alcohol for Everclear will usually work on. I also use it to clean my tobacco pipes, but unless you smoke a pipe I think it is unlikely that this will be all that useful. ---

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I hadn’t really thought of it as a cleaning product, but that makes good sense. I wonder if my poor old Discwasher bottle would dissolve if I poured this stuff in it. 🙂 ---

It’d be about 95-98 proof, anyway. ---

Seems to me I heard the classic mix for Everclear is orange koolaid. Never drank it myself. ---

We poured some into a jar of marischino cherries when I was 20 or so. We found the jar again when I was 22… and my roommates ate them. AAUUGH. :eek: ---
