I’m an old ridgerunner at heart; barns interest me more than houses. Especially older classical barns like yours.
To give some idea of how popular restoration of old barns and cabins has become in the US, there are at least two TV shows which feature them.

I see these on Sky from time to time. Probably obscure for city people but its the sort of stuff I enjoy.
I was gonna say, “Hey! Let’s put on a show!” but I think you topped me with this one.
If there’s a Habitat ReStore in your area, they may come out and do a deconstruction at no cost to you. They will then sell the wood, and anything else that’s salvageable, and use the money to fund Habitat for Humanity programs.
It really seems like far too nice of a barn to just salvage. I’m sure someone would like to buy it, move it and restore it. Maybe not as much money for you but at least it can live on.
I’d like to keep it, but can’t afford to fix it to where it is an asset rather than liability. I’ve gotten two quotes so far: One group will reimburse me for some of the value of the materials, but they would still charge me and I’d be out of pocket $12000; the other group will take it down for no cost to me.
Hmm? You pay $12,000 or nothing. Doesn’t seem like much of a quandary.
not a quandary yet, but I’m waiting from all those people willing to give me money that I hear exist.
Sigene - It looks like a lovely barn.
I don’t understand your comment.
