WhyNot, are you sure it was Dublin and not York in England?
Description sounds very much like the Jorvik Centre: http://jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk/

Couldn’t be, as I’ve never been to England, but those Vikings sure got around!
Yeah, I’ve spent some time in Europe and do understand the difference. Meeting locals is a high point of travel and I expect that we’ll get in some pub time. And I don’t HAVE an accent; I’m an American!
Another recommendation: The best food I had in Dublin–much better than pub food-- was here:

By Dublin standards, fairly reasonable prices for excellent food. The owner will stop by your table several times and have a genuinely nice conversation with you.
That place looks great. I must try it out sometime.
Agreed- DO NOT DRIVE IN DUBLIN. I used to drive in a great circuit around Dublin just so I didn’t have to experience driver’s hell.
3 days isn’t enough to go far and see anything. You could save the cost of renting the car and do a few bus tours, which allows you to see above the hedgerows.
I was much more impressed with the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin than with the Book of Kells. Full of amazing stuff.
I second this. Alcohol or not, the draw is IN the pubs. It wasn’t a good day if our merry little band didn’t hit at least three - and preferably four - pubs in a day. Not for the alcohol although I enjoyed a pint of Guiness from time to time - it was talking to the people and learning all kinds of stuff about life in a foreign country.
Best travel experience ever.
Dublinia probably.
ETA: Missed that this was answered already:smack:
One thing to keep in mind is that the days will be quite short at that time of year. The sun will set around 4:30 in the afternoon, so get on the road early.
