Beg to differ. WW was brilliant. Newsroom had promise, but quickly turned to crap.
Not a drama, but if you like Sorkin, check out Sports Night.
I’ll give it a look. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks. My wife still watches it, so I certainly have the opportunity. I watched it off and on through last season, until this year I decided it wasn’t good for me or fair to my wife to have me sitting through (and inevitably commenting on) a show I didn’t like. Really weird, because when we first found this show, it was one of my faves. But then it seemed as tho the main characters - especially Booth - became stupid caricatures. Around the time they started seeing each other. And I started seeing patterns in the “resolutions” - OK, not the first guy they show, will be someone they show early whom you have no reason to think the culprit…
The crazy thing is, right around the time I found my interest flagging, is when I understand the ratings soared! Nice to be such a reliable adverse indicator!
Has Aubrey developed a personality other than “he’ll eat your hat if you don’t keep a close eye on it!”? Tough that Cam with her oh-so-professional tight dresses wasn’t even enough to keep my interest…
Well - maybe I’m wrong, and I just watched the pilot - but it doesn’t pick up where the movie left off at all. But rather, it seems to be just the set up for another generic genius superdetective shows, of which we currently have 19 on TV. Am I wrong?
“Hey, we’ve got the smartest human being who ever lived. None of us are even able to operate anywhere close to his level. Should we have him working on advanced physics questions? Maybe mine him for insight into public policy?”
“Nah. Send him to some FBI office and have him look at some old case files I guess”
Person of Interest has been one of the better shows in recent years. Looks like it’s only getting 1/2 year this year and it will be the last.
I came in to say the same thing. PoI started out as a crime procedural/spy thriller with a slight sci-fi element, and over the years evolved into something that would make Phillip K. Dick proud: a philosophical hard-SF paranoia thriller and the best representation of the terrors of the surveillance state that I’ve seen yet. Plus, it has fantastic acting and remarkably mature and complex relationships between its characters.
The Librarians returns Sunday.
We must not be watching the same show. You mean the one on NBC right? Significantly more violence than Law & Order or CSI, which the OP considers to be violent shows.
