I’m with Bad Astronomer too. Why in the world would I be ashamed of my personal tastes? There are lots of things to be ashamed of: one’s behavior, decisions, or even family and friends, at times. But we should feel free to enjoy whatever we want. That being said, here are the shows that I like that many people might be ashamed of liking (based on what I’ve read here): That 70’s Show (Someone mentioned this, but I’m damned if I can tell why I’m supposed to be ashamed. The show makes me laugh, and that’s why I like it.) Melrose Place (Absolutely loved it. Cheesy and completely wonderful. I was devastated when it got cancelled, along with its brethren “Titans” and “Pasadena.”) Survivor (The rolling of the eyes from the other teachers at school is annoying. If it’s wrong to like Survivor, I don’t want to be right.) 9Fe ---

I should add that not ALL of the other teachers at school roll their eyes when Survivor is discussed. We even had enough participants (tough at a small school) to have a Survivor pool at $5 a person to see who the last one standing is. I have Vecepia and am still alive. ---

_Elimidate_ It’s unreal how catty people get on this show. I can’t believe there are people out there who would act like this to get a date. It’s just so pathetic. And I usually end up yelling at the TV to these people. :: hides head and scampers away :: ---

The Muppet Show. Now, I’m not embarrassed to admit to the SDMB members, because, knowing what a bright bunch they are, they are aware of the pop-culture spoofs and subtle adult humor contained in the Muppet Show. I have a morbid fascination with true crime shows, and I’ll never miss an episode of “American Justice”. The more despicable the serial murderer, the better I like it, because most of the criminals on the show get jail time or capital punishment. You just can’t beat real courtroom dramas, and I mean the big-time criminal stuff, not the “he-said-she-said” penny ante judge show squabbles. I also like “Secrets of Forensic Science”, another true crime show that’s even more grisly. Poor Mr. Pug doesn’t understand my fascination with these true-life homicide shows! I try to tell him that it’s similar to liking movies like “Double Indemnity”, or “In Cold Blood”, only it’s real. ---

Almost anything on Game Show Network, except Newlywed Game. And although I’m totally out of the demo, I do love my NASCAR! ---

Cops, with Swiss-watch-like regularity. Oddly, I cannot get into repeats of Cops; my gritty real-life drama needs to be fresh. It also does a nice job of portraying the good and bad of our police officers; sometimes they use the shades of gray for good, sometimes to make an unwarranted (bad pun) bust, but always much more operation in gray areas than one would think. Tough job. America’s Funniest Home Videos. Started watching again when (a) my wife got pregnant and thought everything was funny and (b) when one of the guys from MST3K became a writer. I have to admit that the ol’ “Football in Groin” still makes me laugh, and the filler writing is very much improved from the Saget era. Anything on the History Channel. Somehow I find a way to rationalize that it is educational, but it’s clearly intellectual porn. Good porn. Porn with evil Nazis to provide perspective on Evil. PB&J Otter. My twenty-month olds give me a valid excuse, but I have found myself watching long past their attention span. Anyone know if Luna from Bear in the Big Blue House is the same voice as the mother otter on PB&J? ---
