Inspired by the fact that [Picket Fences](http://www.tvboxset.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=758&gclid=CObLmurn_IwCFRU6OAodim18DA) is coming out on DVD: If you had to, what TV small town would you live in, and why? For that matter, which would would you absolutely not live, and why? My picks: To live in, definitely \*\*Stars Hollow, Connecticut, \*\*, from [Gilmore girls.](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilmore_Girls) It’s got it all: tastefully hot innkeepers you can lust after without feeling dirty. A pair of highly skilled, entertainingly neurotic cooks. Parity between bookstores and movie theatres. The antics of the townsfolk tend to be more amusing than anything else. To avoid at all costs: **Trinity, South Carolina** , from [American Gothic](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Gothic_%28TV_series%29). There’s a whole raft of reasons to avoid the place. However, if the fact that the sheriff is Mephistopheles does not convince you, you probably cannot be helped. Anybody else? ---

Cabot Cove, Maine Seems like a nice place to get lobster, and there’s always enough murders to keep life interesting. ---

I’d like to live in the make believe version of NYC that you see on “Friends”, “Seinfeld”, “Mad About You” etc. where you can get a big apartment for dirt cheap, hang out with your friends all day and not have to go to work much. Then to retire, I’d move to good old Mayberry NC. ---
