I want Jon Stewart to moderate all the debates with his team of researches that can find and display on the giant screen behind them contradictions or lies told by the candidates.
I could go for televising the debate with a time delay of a couple of hours, during which fact checkers analyze the participants statements. Then when televised a smal synopsis of the truth would be displayed at the bottom of the screen. So if Trumps says “Obama lets Syrian refugees in without any vetting what-so-ever”, a blurb below would read that it generally takes about 2 years for refugees to be granted asylum.
That’s a great idea. The candidates would never go for it, of course. But there’s nothing keeping the networks from doing it now in addition to the live airing of the debate. I’d rather watch a fact-check annotated version of the debate a day later than watch the live one, given the choice.
It could be done live. There’s already a yuuge list of statements/positions from both candidates that could be ready beforehand. Anything new should be able to be checked very quickly live.
The moderator could simply pose that as a question then or have a segment at the end to question the candidates.
One with Gary Johnson in it.
