What version of the twilight zone do you like best and why

The original Twilight Zone is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. When I was younger I read and reread The Twilight Zone Companion so much that it started to fall apart and I got a second copy (and eventually a third because one of the DVD sets came with a digest sized version of it).

Overall the original 60’s show had the most twists that I didn’t see coming. Perhaps it was because it was the first time such like twists were used. So I rank the 60’s original as #1

I thought the 80’s remake had some decent episodes, with Her Pilgrim Soul bringing me to tears.

I don’t even recall the 2002 remake.

I tried watching some of the 2020 Peele remake, and they just weren’t cutting it for me. Although I like some of Peele’s other projects, this one just seemed really weak.

I don’t consider Night Gallery to be a remake, as this was much more horror oriented. I loved Night Gallery, and to rank it in this list I would consider it #2.

The original series. Most of the stories are excellent, and they were a large part of my growing up. I loved the The Twilight Zone marathons that started in the '80s or '90s.

I liked some of the ones from the 1980s reboot. Good adaptation of Harlan Ellison’s Shatterday, and The Shadow Man is one of my favourite TV episodes of all time.

But definitely the original series for its quality and quantity.

Related trivia note; this upcoming Christmas would have been Rod Serling’s 100th birthday.

I have warm memories of the 1980s version. It came along right about when I was becoming a teenager, which is a great age for this type of show. I was old enough to appreciate what was going on, but young enough to be wowed.

One thing about the 80s version: About that time I was imagining that what TV should do is make an anthology show of good science fiction short stories. I knew there were many that could be filmed without a lot of effort. Such as, say, The Cold Equations.

And they did!

Along with some original stories, and some TZ remakes.
