I assume that the margarine pigment law was to prevent oleomargarine (is there any other kind of margarine?) makers from colouring margarine to make it look like butter. But how does that account for matt_mcl’s observation of “day-glo” margarine?
Maybe it just looks like that to me in comparison to what I’m used to – much like people think we in Quebec have “white” margarine. (The margarine is not milky-white. It’s pale yellow.)
Still are in NC. Cohabitation for more than two weeks is a misdemeanor. Cohab is also illiegal in 6 other states (no cite available). One evolving case in NC is of a county sheriff’s radio dispatcher that was given a choice of moving out on her boyfriend (or making him move out) or being fired as the sheriff didn’t want such a lawbreaker working for him. She quit and now the ACLU is taking her case trying to get the law against coed cohabitation overturned. The DA advises that it should not be heard because she was not charged with a crime. The sheriff didn’t have the cajones to perform his sworn duty of enforcing the law, no matter how stupid it is. The best way to get rid of a stupid law is to enforce it and let the courts decide.
