Three in one day, actually. Two from Amazon: **Rilo Kiley** - _Takeoffs and Landings_ A brilliant new group, not well-known, but with some amazing songwriting. **The Clientele** - _Suburban Light_ A total flyer. I read some reviews that compared it to the Velvet Underground channeling Jeff Buckley, and I couldn’t resist. I’ll let you know. And from a local record store **Rufus Wainwright** His self-titled debut, bought to replace the one that I loaned out a year ago. It’s never coming back. Not that I could blame anyone for stealing this album; it’s astonishing. Today’s music scene is incredibly good; better than ever before in my life. And I’m 37. ---

It was an odd one I just had to hear after hearing his cover of Kraftwerk’s “Showroom Dummies”… Senor Coconut “El Baile Aleman” [Santiago’s fun-loving Latin Playboy, Senor Coconut](http://www.emperornorton.com/mod/artistpage.php3?artist=senor_coconut) This is an album of Kraftwork covers in Cha-Cha-Cha, Merengue, & Cumbia styles. It might be tricky to find. On the back it says “File under: Simulation” 😕 ---

Lordy I feel outta the loop! My last album purchase was probably something by Rush, and my last cd was Green Day something-or-other, bought at least two years ago. BTW, I’m saving all my pennies for the NEW Rush CD! 🆒 ---

Since I have only just gotten used to the idea of not being a grad student anymore, and am still getting used to this newfangled idea of “money,” I’m still in the phase of buying all those CDs I couldn’t afford to buy in previous years. So, the last spending spree resulted in: Wilco, _Being There_ Portishead, _Dummy_ The Stone Roses, s/t Supergrass, _I Should Coco_ Jellyfish, _Spilt Milk_ Velvet Crush, _In the Presence of Greatness_ Teenage Fanclub and Jad Fair, _Words of Wisdom and Hope_ (warning: do **not** buy this album! Wow, I seldom buy music because I find it so intrusive. (It’s EVERYWHERE whether you want it or not.) I think the last CD I bought was ELO’s latest: **ZOOM** and my next purchase will be a replacement for my stolen copy of Spinal Tap’s **Break Like the Wind**. I don’t recall the last album I bought, but I do buy them quite a bit and transfer them to minidisc. I’m just now 31 and have been an old fogey since I was around 17. 😉 ---

The last CD I bought was “Spiritual Machines” by **Our Lady Peace**. Speaking of “borrowed” CDs, I really should get my brother to give me back my copy of “The Audio of Being” by the **Matthew Good Band**! He has this thing about borrowing my CDs, yet he never gives them back! Wait… he did give back my copy of “Physical Graffiti”, but only because one of our other friends wanted to borrow it. I’ve been looking for the MGB CD over at his place for the last few weeks, and can’t seem to find it; he joked that he’d thrown it out and/or burned it. I certainly hope not… I should have bought two copies of it when I originally bought it.
