What was the last concert you attended?

A couple months back I saw a concert that I had long since given up ever getting a chance to see in my lifetime - Midnight Oil. But they dusted off their gear and played a terrific set in L.A., for which they have my very sincere thanks.

Mine has not changed. It’s still Roger Waters, Bangkok (just outside the city actually). I think it was 2002. It was kick-ass. We were second row, center.

GUNS-n-ROSES Sunday in Hershey PA. My first time seeing my favorite band. They was absolutely awesome playing 3.5 hours of great high energy music! Dreams do come true!!!

Hed PE with Motograter, NE Last Words, Bipolar and Cirka:Sik back in June at the Dive Bar in Las Vegas. For the record, it was a freaking fantastic show.

I think the last live performance by an artist with name recognition was the Oak Ridge Boys singing the national anthem at a World Series game in St. Louis in 1985. Before a crowd of over 50,000.

The Yardbirds last year. The unbelievable thing was that the lead guitarist was a guy my husband hung out with in high school. Really good show.

How was it? We were thinking about seeing that show but my wife decided to sink the concert budget into Stevie Nicks tickets for September instead.

Speaking of, since someone asked about why you do/don’t see the number of shows that you do, I’d probably see more shows but I need to thread the needle between acts I’m interested in, acts my wife is interested in and places that are half decent to see a performance. I’d be more inclined to stand in a small venue or arrive two hours early to be up front but she’s not down with that. I’m not really interested in seeing shows by myself (or have local friends with my tastes who would be available) so that cuts it back. Still, we usually get out to see two or three acts a year and they’re almost always people that I’m primarily interested in since I always set these things up.

Peter Gabriel and Sting last summer at the Bell Center Montreal! Loved it!!!

Little River Band at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, earlier this month.

Green Day last Friday. It was okay - even though I agreed with all of Billie Joe’s political comments, it was still overly preachy.

Peter Gabriel. Sting. Little River Band. The Yardbirds. Little River Band. What year is this?
Looks at the Fark Politics page. 2017. Hopes dashed.

I lost track of what day it was when I posted earlier. I thought The Who were playing Tuesday. But they played Wednesday.

So I went.

Phish doing The Baker’s Dozen in NYC.

OK, I need to ammend my previous answer.
Tonight we saw The Ballroom Thieves at St Clair Park in Greensburg, PA. Great band. “Neo-Folk” is how they describe themselves. Would see again (even if we had to buy tickets). We brought a growler of a local brewery’s (Yellow Bridge) New England style IPA, Dude Wanted Juice, but it went too fast. Amazingly, we ran across a buddy who had a big cooler full of craft. His friends no-showed. WooHoooooo!!!

Los Straitjackets vs. NRBQ at the Woodlands Tavern (Columbus OH), 2016.

52 years after NRBQ’s founding, Terry Adams is the only original member still performing with the group, and is still full of manic energy. If you’re in Hudson N.Y. today, they’re scheduled to rock at the Hudson Summerfest.

Our band - The Turbo Kings - played a forth of July show for Ambassador Helen Meagher La Lime. She complemented our work and asked us to sign the embassy register but declined an invitation to sing.

Quite a gracious lady.

For some reason, ive lost most of my interest in music. I rarely even play it at home, where I have infinite choices and a great Sonos system throughout the house. Going to a crowded venue to hear music has no appeal anymore. I’ve often wondered why.

So, how were they?

OK, I can relate. My gf is absolutely music crazy, but if she wasn’t tugging me along, ennui would win. Once the music is playing though, I’m glad we are there.

I’m not crazy about the large venues, either. I’d love to see Foo Fighters and Lady Gaga, but they won’t be happening just because of the crowds. The smaller venues have the added attraction of being less expensive so we can go to more shows and get good seats. We saw Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo last week and were in the eighth row for $55 each. I estimate the crowd was about 2,000. What a phenomenal show! They’re high energy and connect with the crowd so well. Pat’s voice is still amazing, and Neil is hilarious as well as hugely talented.
