Yeah, those guys are such losers.

_wait a minute… irony?_ :dubious:

Still, the way this Trekker saw it: sure, Kirk is the coolest, but Shatner was getting old. Time to move on, let the new team of Berman and Bragga get things going…

Shoulda offed someone else, maybe…

Losing _Firefly_ the way we did really horked me off. So that’s a good example of fanboy reaction.

Let Berman and Braga get things going? This is a sick joke, right? Berman and Braga have been doing their level best to destroy Trek!

Didn’t realize you were a member there, **NCB**. Same username? I’ve not seen you around although, really, I’ve not been paying much attention to since the cancellation of _Enterprise_ and my growing boredom with _Deep Space Nine_ as I’ve not been a fan of _Voyager_ or _The Next Generation_ for years now and never did like _Star Trek_ except for its last five movies.

_All Good Things…_ I guess.

[Here](http://www.shopping.com/xPR-What_A_Wonderful_World_Single_Kenny_G) is some info.

Pat Metheny’s [rant](http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=807027) on the subject is particularly entertaining. I especially like his phrase, “spewing his lame-ass, jive, pseudo-bluesy, out-of-tune, noodling, wimped out, fucked up playing all over one of the great Louis’ tracks”.

Sick joke, yes. Plus a little bit of hindsight being 20/20. Berman was one of the guys who took things over when Gene went nutso with really stupid stuff, so we actually kind of liked him then.

**Aes** , I haven’t logged on there since Season 2 of ENT, but I still popped in to read every now and again. Tho I haven’t even done that since early Spring this year when the question of continuing ENT was still slightly open. They are indeed a very different group from our vaunted Trek Dopers. I signed up as NoClueBoy, I think.

I never thought anyone _did_! 😉 She botched it. “The same thing that happens to everything else” isn’t supposed to be said with the same kind of gravity as “Do you know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning.” Oh well.

Not only does it change Han’s character, but it’s totally implausible! How does a trained bounty hunter MISS someone from 2 feet away? The scene just reeked of contrivance.

To slip in another **Firefly** reference, Mal would have shot first. Then he would have kicked the corpse into an engine or something.

The way she said it with that gravity totally got her message across–“Don’t mess with the storm goddess!”
I cheered.

😛

I thought Kirk in Generations was a bit much full stop. “The Undiscovered Country” was the ending us TOS fans needed to our series in so many ways. TOS cameos on TNG was one thing, major characters in a movie was another…

Don’t flatter yourself. 😃 Of course I remembered, both that she was barely a part of the story in the books, and din’t really accompany them in the movies. But I liked her better than the ultra-feminine elf Tolkien used.

Obviously, D **Dr.** , you are welcome to that interpretation - it certainly makes it easier to stay within the movie. For me - and others who protested, including the man who wrote the line - the fact that she maintained a badass tone while giving the second half of the line came across as so lame. Simply because the line was silly (and intentionally so) - what happens to frogs struck by lightening - same as anything else? Hunh? I can the person who is expecting to be frightened by this going “what? THAT’s your big tough line?”

It would be like Clint Eastwood saying something like “I can’t remember if I shot 5 times or 6 - so you gotta ask yourself punk: who’s buried in Grant’s tomb?”

Clearly YMMV. Either way, it was a big deal when the movie came out and Joss had a lot of ‘splainin’ to do…

😃 Actually I wasn’t talking about Legolas…wasn’t there some other elf that came to get them? Riding in on the horse? I am way too lazy to hunt down my copy, though.

What are you talking about? Faramir wasn’t even in the movies.

Movie-Boromir had two brothers with one name. Like Larry and his brother Daryl and his other brother Daryl.

I cannot beleve no one has said this yet.

Starship Troopers.

The cry from Heinlein fans could be heard on mars. They took a good, if militaristic book and pissed all over it.
Bastards.

What do you mean? There is no Starship Troopers movie. There’s an okay, if a bit dry, Starship Troopers OVA series, but the plans for a movie fell through. \<nodnodnodnodnodnodnodnodnod\>

Just like the planned Highlander sequel. Or the third Alien movie.

(And, as long as I’m denying reality - no one’s found Antoine de St. Exupery’s plane, either. 😉 )

That’s the whole point of my post–there was enough of a fanboy howl of outrage that Jackson changed the script and wrote her back out of the fellowship.
