What was your first job?

I refused to work in food service or in a grocery store. So I worked for a Software Etc for a year or two. It was kind of a novelty for some people to have someone working the store that actually knew about computers. Of course the top salesperson was a large breasted blonde, so perhaps my skills were wasted there.

While my buddy and I had a pretty serious lawn mowing operation by the age of 13, my first “real” job was as handyman, with the same buddy as a partner, in the priest’s residence at my high school. It was a cool old Italianate Manor, with lot’s of hidden passages, etc., so we would often take the afternoon off and drink stolen beer. We had a great scam going. The first month, we’d work at a decent but measured pace, to give the priests an idea of how long particular jobs took. After that, we’d blow through whatever assignment and take the afternoon off.
I wonder if they’d take me back …

I was 15 when I started at Carvel’s (ice cream store, for anyone not familiar), & got paid $3.50/hr. I only worked there for 4 months, but I got so sick of the smell of ice cream that I rarely ate it for several years after.

And having seen what I saw, I will NEVER have marshmallow topping on a sundae again…

My first job was an inventory clerk at an auto parts store. I think I made $3.25/hour because both my father and my sister worked at the store also.

I think because of my time there I am extremely concerned with how clean a man’s hands are. It is the FIRST thing I notice…

Except for mowing lawns I was a dishwasher. It was Hot but hey I made about $1.35 an hour.
